Liberty Farms is home to LF Luka, a 1997 Andalusian/Percheron cross gelding.  For the past several years, Luka has been shown by Nicole Jones-Taylor, a young rider from Larkspur, Colorado.

In 2004, Luka’s first year of showing, he was the United States Eventing Association (USEA) Area IX Reserve Champion Beginner Novice horse, ridden by 11-year-old Nicole.  Aboard Luka, Nicole was the Champion Junior Beginner Novice rider, as awarded by the Central Colorado Chapter of the Mountain States Eventing Association (MSEA/CCC), and the fourth highest placed Junior Novice rider, as awarded by MSEA/CCC.

In 2005, Luka and Nicole’s second year together, she was the USEA Area IX High Point Champion Junior Rider and High Point Champion Young Rider.  Luka was third in USEA Area IX for High Point Novice horse.

In the MSEA, Nicole was the third place Leading Junior Novice Rider of the Year,  and in MSEA/CCC, Nicole was the Champion Junior Novice Rider and Luka was the High Point Novice Horse.

Additionally, in 2005, their first year of dressage showing, Nicole received her United States Dressage Federation (USDF) Rider Performance Award at Training Level with scores earned while showing Luka.  She also received an RMDS rider award for 12 scores of 60% of better earned while showing Luka.

In the Colorado Springs Dressage Association (CSDA), Luka was the All-Breed Reserve Champion in the JR/YR division and Nicole was the New to Dressage JR/YR Champion.  Together, Nicole and Luka won the CSDA JR/YR Horse/Rider of the Year award at Training Level.

And last, but not least, in the International Andalusian and Lusitano Horse Assocation (IALHA), Nicole and Luka placed first in the 1/2 Andalusian, Training Level, JR/YR division, and fifth in the 1/2 Andalusian, Training Level, Open division.

In 2006, Nicole and Luka started the year at Novice Level, and then moved up to Training Level.  It was the first outing for both horse and rider at that level, and they had a most excellent year, finishing third at their first Training Level event, placing second in three horse trials, and finishing the season by winning The Colorado Horse Park Horse Trials (having won the Aspen Ridge Horse Trials earlier in the season).

Riding Luka and her own horse, The Highlander, Nicole was Reserve Champion Junior Rider and Reserve Champion Young Rider for USEA Area IX.  Luka was High Point Horse at Two Levels and Luka and Nicole placed second at the Area IX championships, missing first place by just half-a-point!

In MSEA, Luka was the fifth place Leading Training Horse of the Year and Nicole was the sixth place Leading Junior Rider of the Year.
